You have completed studies in the field of electrical engineering or computer science and first experiences in implementing test automation? Additionally, precise work is a must for you? Then we are looking exactly for you as Test Automation Engineer (m/w/d). In this role, you will develop automated test suites for FPGA designs in VHDL and integrate them into our CI/CD pipeline with tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD. You will create test harnesses and frameworks for efficient testing and work closely with FPGA designers to implement requirements. You will build and configure complex test racks, use simulation tools like ModelSim, and integrate FPGA manufacturer tools like Quartus and Vivado. Furthermore, you will analyze test results, troubleshoot problems, and document all processes for good traceability.

Tasks

  • You develop and implement automated test suites for FPGA designs in VHDL that cover both functional and performance aspects.
  • You integrate these tests seamlessly into our CI/CD pipeline – for example, with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD – and ensure continuous and reliable test automation.
  • To enable efficient and scalable FPGA testing, you create your own test harnesses and frameworks using VHDL and VUnit.
  • In close coordination with the FPGA designers, you adjust requirements and implement suitable automation solutions.
  • You design, build, and configure complex test racks with FPGA hardware and corresponding measurement technology.
  • For verification, you use simulation tools like ModelSim or QuestaSim and integrate the common tools of FPGA manufacturers – including Altera Quartus, Xilinx Vivado, and Lattice Diamond – to ensure a smooth process.
  • You also analyze test results, systematically troubleshoot problems, and provide concrete recommendations for process optimization.
  • You document your work carefully so that test strategies, workflows, and results remain traceable and maintainable at all times.

Qualification

  • A completed degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or comparable field.
  • First practical experience in implementing test automation, particularly in the area of FPGA or hardware design.
  • Fundamental knowledge in FPGA design.
  • Fluent German and English language skills in spoken and written form.
  • A problem-solving-oriented and analytical working style.
