Datacenter Technician

Job Description

M247 Global is looking for a hands-on technician, preferably with experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, structured cabling, or technical maintenance, to operate and maintain the infrastructure of a datacenter in Brașov.

We are looking for a dexterous person, accustomed to working with equipment, cables, measuring instruments, and tools, but who also has basic knowledge of using computers and networks.

No prior datacenter experience is required. We provide training for specific equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

Cabling and Telecommunications

• Making and verifying UTP and fiber optic connections (cross-connect).
• Identifying and resolving physical connectivity issues.
• Organizing, labeling, and managing cables in racks.
• Using testing equipment for UTP and fiber optics.

IT Equipment and Networking

• Installing and removing equipment in racks.
• Rebooting equipment as per received requests.
• Identifying and replacing hardware components, such as HDDs/SSDs, power supplies, or RAM modules, according to procedures.
• Simple network configurations (IP, subnet mask, gateway) on equipment like PDUs.
• Basic connectivity checks.

Infrastructure Monitoring

• Monitoring temperature, humidity, and electrical parameters.
• Supervising alarms for UPS, generators, and cooling systems.
• Identifying and reporting any anomalies.

General Technical Activities

• Simple assembly, fixing, and maintenance operations.
• Using hand and power tools.
• Receiving, executing, and documenting requests from the ticketing system.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in telecommunications, UTP/fiber optic cabling, technical installations, or similar fields.
• Basic networking knowledge: IP, switch, router, Ethernet.
• Practical notions of electricity: V, single-phase/three-phase, using a multimeter.
• Technical dexterity and the ability to use tools and work equipment.
• Good PC user skills: Windows, Word, Excel, PDF, email.
• Basic technical English, sufficient for understanding instructions and requests.
• Attention to detail, responsibility, and the ability to work independently after training.

Advantages
