Field Service Technician

Job description

We are looking for a Field Service Technician for access control systems, gates, turnstiles, and ticketing in metropolitan and railway environments. The profile we are seeking is an operational technical profile, with experience on electromechanical equipment, wiring, configuration, and diagnostics, capable of supporting field activities from the installation phase through commissioning and subsequent maintenance.


The role will involve:

  • Supporting and supervising field installation activities on access gates, turnstiles, validators, ticketing systems, control equipment, electrical interfaces, and wiring.
  • Verifying the correct execution of installations in accordance with electrical schematics, layouts, technical specifications, procedures, and project documentation.
  • Coordinating with installation companies, the client, and project teams to manage and resolve installation, functional, or integration criticalities that arise on site.
  • Performing or supporting configuration, set-up, commissioning, testing, and functional testing of equipment and systems.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software faults, identifying the causes of malfunctions, and determining necessary corrective actions.
  • Supporting preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including the replacement of electromechanical components, boards, power supplies, sensors, actuators, and control devices.
  • Preparing intervention reports, checklists, technical notes, non-conformity reports, and as-built updates when necessary.
  • Supporting the client during the operational phase, contributing to the maintenance of system reliability and availability.


Skills:

  • Indicative experience of 3-5 years in field service, maintenance, installation, commissioning, or technical support roles on electromechanical systems, automation, access control, security, ticketing, or industrial plants.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, installation layouts, technical manuals, and testing documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of wiring, termination, verification, and testing of electrical/electronic connections, I/O signals, power supplies, and field components.
  • Familiarity with measurement and diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, cable testers, functional verification tools, and configuration/monitoring software.
  • Good troubleshooting skills on integrated systems comprising controllers, sensors, actuators, motors, power supplies, electronic boards, network devices, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs, controllers, embedded systems, IP networks, and supervision/configuration software; specialization as a software developer is not required.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance logic, fault management, component replacement, functional verification, and service restoration.
  • Operational autonomy, problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure in the field, and an aptitude for professional interaction with clients, suppliers, and executing companies.


Required Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma in electrical, electrotechnical, electronic, automation, or IT fields, or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, automation, or telecommunications engineering is a plus.
  • Previous experience in field activities, maintenance, or commissioning; profiles from access control, AFC/ticketing systems, industrial automation, industrial electrical systems, security, or railway/metropolitan sectors will be positively evaluated.
  • Availability for travel nationwide and for activities at construction sites, stations, depots, or client locations.
  • Good technical manual dexterity and willingness to intervene operationally on equipment when necessary, while primarily focusing on supervision, technical support, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate with technical figures, Project Managers, clients, and installation companies.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).
  • Good command of Italian; knowledge of technical English is a plus.
  • Certifications or training in electrical safety and field work, such as PES/PAV/PEI, safety courses, or experience in railway or metropolitan environments, are considered a plus.


We offer a permanent contract in accordance with the CCNL Commercio e Terziario Confesercenti with a gross annual salary (RAL) between €25,000 and €35,000.
