Your role as Technician Helicopter & Aircraft Components at the Royal Netherlands Air Force

As a technician for helicopter and aircraft components, you will perform inspection and maintenance work on the armament and escape systems of F-35 fighter jets and Apache, Cougar, and Chinook helicopters. Your tasks include dismantling, maintaining, and inspecting mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic components and systems. You will work on identifying, testing, tracing, and analyzing faults found in the components. Additionally, you will identify ambiguities and areas for improvement and discuss them with the lead technician. You are critical of your own work, and maintaining your personal tools and ensuring safety during work execution are self-evident for you.

Due to the diversity of systems and components of the different helicopters and aircraft, there is a lot of variety in your daily tasks. With your technical expertise, you keep the F-35 fighter jets and the Apache, Cougar, and Chinook helicopters safe and operational. Through your technical expertise, you make a difference within the Air Force. Moreover, there are many growth opportunities within the department.

What you bring to the Royal Netherlands Air Force

• You have at least an MBO-4 diploma in technology, preferably mechanical engineering, aircraft engineering, or a related field;
• You possess Part 66 modules or are willing to obtain them;
• Experience with SAP is a plus;
• You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written;
• You possess strong communication skills, are stress-resistant, accurate, and have a sense of responsibility and the ability to improvise when problems arise.

Welcome to the Air Support Command

The Air Support Command is the support airbase of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Here, various departments collaborate to ensure the operational readiness of Defence. The Air Depot handles maintenance, overhaul, and logistical support for all aviation systems. They ensure that fighter jets, aircraft, and helicopters can fly safely and are optimally deployed. Military personnel are trained at the Royal Air Education & Training Centre. Together, we make an indispensable contribution to the operational strength of the Air Force.

You will be working at the 981 Squadron Component Maintenance, within the Weapons Technology & Mechanical Systems department. This department is responsible for the corrective, preventive, and modification maintenance of various weapon system components. This includes, among other things, weapons technology, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system components, (aero) gas turbines, and associated modules. Additionally, the department maintains oxygen systems, accessories, and various gas turbines and small caliber weapons (SCW) of the systems used within the Air Force.
