To become an environmental aeronautical mechanical technician, the training includes three successive periods:

15 weeks of basic military instruction at the École de formation des sous-officiers de l'armée de l'Air et de l'Espace (EFSOAAE), located in Rochefort (17).
11 months of theoretical courses and practical maintenance training on Mirage 2000 and Alphajet aircraft, during which you will also learn technical English and troubleshooting methodologies.

You will follow a paid training:
The prospect of entering training without pay can be a barrier for many new recruits. At the Air and Space Army, all apprentices are paid in full from their first day of entry into training. This means that you receive your full salary, until you obtain your diploma of aeronautical mechanical technician.

As an environmental aeronautical mechanical technician, your job includes the following missions:

You ensure the proper functioning of aircraft (drones, planes or helicopters), land and naval materials within a maintenance unit (ESTA, EH), support (ESME, GAT) or air defense (EDSA);
You perform periodic maintenance operations in the workshop on propulsion systems, airframe, and hydraulic circuits;
You perform traditional and innovative confection activities (carpentry, joinery, machine tools) and 3D printing;
You perform repairs on aeronautical equipment to make them again fit for their operational missions in France and abroad.
