Job description

As a Technical Enterprise Architect at Westernacher, you will be a strategic sparring partner for our clients in planning and implementing demanding SAP S/4HANA transformations. You will combine architectural excellence with a methodical approach and support decision-making processes at management level. In close collaboration with business units, IT teams, and presales, you will design sustainable, scalable target architectures and ensure clear alignment of technology, processes, and organization. Your tasks:

Conception and definition of S/4HANA target architectures (On-Premises, Private Cloud, RISE with SAP) as well as derivation of clear migration and transformation roadmaps.

Evaluation and management of S/4HANA migration scenarios (Brownfield, Selective, Greenfield) including risk, effort, and decision analyses.

Execution of system readiness analyses and technical prechecks using SAP standard tools (e.g., Readiness Check, Business Transformation Center, Maintenance Planner).

Analysis of Simplification Items and derivation of concrete measures for processes, organization, and customizing.

Responsibility for custom code management, including analysis, decommissioning, and refactoring in line with clean core principles.

Design and governance of integration and interface architectures (RFC, IDoc, APIs, OData, Webservices) according to SAP ISA-M.

Ensuring compatibility with third-party add-ons and legacy systems.

Close collaboration with business units, IT, key users, and sales/presales.

Creation and presentation of decision proposals, management briefings, as well as risk and impact analyses.

Architectural input on governance, security, change management, testing, training, and post-go-live activities.

Your profile:

In-depth expertise in SAP S/4HANA architecture, including data models, differences between ECC vs. S/4HANA, Fiori concepts, and end-to-end process understanding.

Proven experience in S/4HANA transformations, including migration approaches, readiness assessments, preliminary projects (e.g., CVI, Universal Journal, Material Ledger, Asset Accounting), and technical prerequisites.

Strong knowledge in custom code and integration architecture, including ATC/SCI, APIs, interfaces, clean core approach, and ISA-M.

Proficient use of relevant SAP tools and platforms for conversion and modernization (e.g., Readiness Check, SUM/DMO, Fiori, LeanIX, Signavio; SAP Cloud ALM/Solution Manager is a plus).

At least 5 years of experience in SAP projects, including at least one S/4HANA conversion, as well as deep know-how in at least two core processes.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at both business and management levels.

Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
