As a Tech Lead, you will take on the technical leadership of the development teams and ensure that software solutions are implemented sustainably, scalably, and maintainably. You will work closely with Product Owners and developers, translate architectural specifications into concrete solutions, and support the teams in technical decisions. Your focus will be on the successful implementation of modern software architectures, the continuous improvement of development processes, and the promotion of technical excellence within the teams. You will remain hands-on and actively develop.

The exact title is less important to us than what you do in the role – with other employers, you might find it as Team Lead Software Development or Engineering Lead.

• Technical leadership, coaching, and coding support for development teams.
• Implementation and further development of architectural specifications.
• Support in the development and introduction of new products and features.
• Responsibility for the technical quality of the developed software.
• Definition and enforcement of development standards and best practices.
• Participation in architectural decisions and creation of technical concepts.
• Support in building and operating containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Participation in deployments.
• Development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensuring security requirements and secure coding practices.
• Support in monitoring, logging, and observability concepts.
• Analysis and resolution of technical challenges and performance issues.
• Coordination of technical activities within agile development teams.
• Conducting code reviews and promoting high software quality.
• Technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and customers.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, or a comparable degree program.
• Several years of experience in software development and initial experience in technical leadership.
• Experience with modern software architectures and agile development methodologies.
• Good knowledge of cloud-native architectures, container technologies, and CI/CD.
• Experience in implementing scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Structured and solution-oriented approach to work.
• Strong hands-on mentality and willingness to actively develop yourself.

Technological Competencies:

• Container & Runtime: Docker, Linux.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): YAML-based models.
• Cloud & On-Prem: AWS, Azure.
• Data Architectures: MSSQL, Kafka, Spark, PostgreSQL.
• Frontend Frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue.
• Testing Frameworks: JUnit and Cypress.
• Security & IAM: TLS, Keycloak, LDAP, OAuth.
• Development Frameworks: SPA, Java, Spring, Spring Boot.

Desired Competencies:

• Kubernetes.
• Monitoring and Logging: Grafana.
• BPMN and Orchestration.
• Python and AI.
• Experience in the insurance or health insurance sector.
• Knowledge of Insurance Application Architecture (VAA).
• Experience with regulatory requirements (GDPR, ISO 27001, BSI).
• Experience with architecture reviews and technical quality processes.
• Experience in introducing best practices and architecture governance.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication skills, and knowledge of best practices.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to manage interdisciplinary teams.
• Innovative spirit and strategic thinking, combined with a hands-on mentality.

Language Skills:

• Proficient German, written and spoken (min. C1).
• Fluent English.
