Tech Lead Backend Java/Kafka — Price Hub (f/m/d)

DECATHLON is accelerating its transformation to become THE global sports digital platform. Digital and AI are the drivers of our 2026-2030 ambition to make sport sustainably accessible. And accessibility starts with the right price: fair, reliable, and available everywhere, at every moment.

Every day, in over 2,000 stores and more than 50 countries, millions of prices change. A mistake means a poorly served customer, a store in difficulty, lost trust. Our role: identify and transmit the correct price, at the right time, without error, all over the world.

To achieve this, 2 critical products process an average of 7 million events per day, with peaks of several tens of millions. They run 24/7 with an SLA greater than 99.9% and a simple objective: not to lose any event. Around them, 4 other products exploit sales data and offer commercial dynamism levers to stores. An event-driven platform that scales under load, and a passionate team that continuously evolves it, without ever compromising on quality. Our next milestone: push our limits in performance, resilience, and architecture. This is where you come in.

YOUR FUTURE CONTRIBUTION

• You are the technical reference for the team (8 people: EM, PM, 3 Software Engineers, QE, Support Engineer). You code daily with the team and drive major architectural decisions
• You define the technical vision and roadmap with the Product Manager and the Engineering Manager. You make trade-offs between technical debt, reliability, and new features
• You develop engineers through pairing, code reviews, ADRs, and sharing best practices (design, observability)
• You guarantee the robustness of high-stakes systems: large-scale streaming, high-performance caching, zero event loss, zero-downtime deployments
• You build it, you run it: the team operates its products, with on-call duty for about 1 week every 2 months

WHAT YOU BRING

• Solid Java/JVM expertise, and a desire to produce quality code that lasts
• Real experience with streaming using Kafka and distributed systems in production
• Good command of caching strategies and large-scale performance challenges
• Technical leadership experience: you have previously driven architectural choices and helped a team upskill
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, and observability. You know what happens between the IDE and production
• Professional English (B2) to collaborate with teams worldwide
