Team Manager Tram

At the end point, you will speak to a conductor who has questions about their schedule. A colleague calls you after an incident on the line. In a meeting with other team managers, you will discuss how you can improve employability within the team. As a tram team manager, you are there for your people AND for the city. You connect, make adjustments, and move with what's happening: on the work floor and beyond. You provide direction, but also allow for space. Sometimes you are a coach, sometimes you are a decision-maker. You are always present, approachable, and involved. Your attention to people and processes makes the difference: for your team AND for public transport in the city.

What you will do

As a team manager, you will directly lead about 50 to 70 drivers and conductors. You will be visible on the work floor and know what is going on in your team. This means you

• conduct interviews about employability, motivation, and performance, and ensure that colleagues can do their work safely, pleasantly, and professionally.
• translate objectives - such as punctuality, productivity, and absenteeism - into clear agreements and actions.
• promote healthy working practices and pick up on signals from your employees early on. Absenteeism requires continuous attention.
• support employees in challenging situations, for example after a calamity.

You are involved, but also clear. You adapt to the dynamics of your team. Sometimes extra attention is needed, sometimes you can push through with innovation. You maintain oversight AND keep the energy up. In addition to your role on the work floor, you will contribute to policy decisions, improvement projects, and the translation of plans into practice. So you are not only operationally involved but also make strategic contributions to how we organize public transport in the city.

What you bring

You are an experienced and people-oriented leader who stands firm in an operational environment. You:

• work and think at a Bachelor's degree level (hbo-niveau).
• have at least 3 years of experience managing large teams.
• have experience with absenteeism management and are familiar with the 'Wet verbetering poortwachter' (Dutch Gatekeeper Improvement Act).
• know what hospitality means and actively promote it.
• enjoy working independently and giving your own interpretation to the role.
• are flexibly deployable, including in early, late, and weekend shifts.

• A salary of at least € 3,553,- and a maximum of € 5,081,- gross per month based on a 36-hour work week (scale 9). Placement will be based on education and relevant work experience.
• Irregular hours allowance of 8.1%.
• A 13th month's salary, 8% holiday pay, a 1.5% sustainable employability allowance, plus a well-arranged pension with ABP.

Your team

You will join one of the five units within Tram, which covers 14 tram lines and a reserve team. The atmosphere is collegial, involved, and genuinely 'Amsterdam'. You will work with other team managers and spend a lot of time traveling between different locations of the tram company. Everyone knows each other and stands up for each other.
