Head of Accounting (m/f/d)

Job description

For our administration in Herrenberg, we are looking for a

Head of Accounting (m/f/d)

on a permanent, full-time basis starting October 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Technical guidance and coordination of the accounting team
  • Management and prioritization of daily business
  • Execution of monthly closing processes including account reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and depreciations
  • Preparation of monthly VAT advance returns within a corporate group structure after appropriate training
  • Responsibility for the proper preparation of individual financial statements and cooperation with auditors
  • Independent preparation of the voluntary consolidated financial statements for four companies after appropriate training
  • Data preparation for tax returns, considering the specifics of non-profit organizations and cooperation with tax advisors
  • Point of contact for management, facilities, controlling, as well as external parties such as auditors, banks, and tax authorities
  • Further development and digitalization of accounting processes

Qualifications

  • Completed commercial apprenticeship, ideally with further training as a Certified Accountant (m/f/d), or comparable qualification
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and good knowledge of HGB (German Commercial Code) accounting standards
  • Experience in preparing annual financial statements
  • IT affinity and interest in the further development of digital processes
  • SAP knowledge is helpful, but not a mandatory requirement
  • Initial leadership experience is desirable. A move into a leadership role is also possible with appropriate professional and personal aptitude
  • Structured way of working and high organizational skills
  • Reliability, accuracy, and affinity for numbers
  • Identification with the diaconal, Christian profile
