About HORNBACH

HORNBACH is an international DIY store chain with garden centers. We are a German family business with over 25,000 employees in Europe. Since 1997, we have been active in the Netherlands with eighteen DIY stores, one HORNBACH Flooring branch, a Customer Service Center, and a Service Office, where a total of 4,000 employees work. We focus on private individuals and professionals who want to build, renovate, and DIY.

The basis of our success? Our five core values: the lowest price guarantee, expert advice, extensive service, an enormous assortment of 120,000 items, and large stocks, so customers never miss out.

This requires people who understand their trade, know how to get things done, and enjoy working together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What impact can I make in my role?

In a management role at HORNBACH, you make a real difference. You won't be in the background, but in the middle of the store, among your team and our customers. You are visible and approachable and contribute directly to how the day unfolds in a branch. You motivate and develop colleagues, ensure that tasks run smoothly, and foster a culture where colleagues perform at their best. This increases customer satisfaction, strengthens teamwork on the shop floor, and contributes to the overall success of the branch. Moreover, you will see the results of your work reflected in the atmosphere, performance, and growth of your team. Your impact is therefore significant!

How will I be onboarded and guided during the initial period?

You will be thoroughly onboarded. No quick handover, but a clear start where you learn how we work at HORNBACH, on the floor and behind the scenes. During your onboarding period, you will have time to get to know the branch, colleagues, and our working methods well. You will be guided by experienced colleagues and (depending on your role) your manager.

For Team Leaders and Business Managers: you will quickly start with the HORNBACH leadership program called 'Bricks'. This is a training program that provides you with tools to be successful in your role, even if you already have experience as a leader.

What growth opportunities are there within HORNBACH?

HORNBACH likes to invest in managers who want to keep growing. This can be by growing into another department (e.g., from Sales to Service & Checkout), or a more senior role. You will also continue to develop in terms of content, for example in leadership, commercial skills, or process improvement. Many managers build their careers step by step with us. We are an organization that thinks about the long term and sees and utilizes ambition.

The application procedure.

Apply

Do you think 'YES! That sounds like me?' Then send us your application! If we also see a match? Then we hope to get to know you personally soon. We are curious!

First interview

During the first introduction, we will discuss your work experience and motivation. Feel free to ask plenty of questions. About the role, your colleagues, or the salary. We will answer them with pleasure, as it is never a one-way street with us.

Second interview

During this interview, we will delve deeper into what working at HORNBACH actually means, the content of the role, team composition, and your interests and ambitions.

Assessment

Do we see you working at HORNBACH? Then we will also conduct a personal test to get to know you a bit better before you sign your new contract.

Screening (VOG)

For some specialized roles, you will need a Certificate of Conduct (VOG), for example for Project Coordinator. We will then send you a link with which you can apply for your VOG from Justis. Of course, we will cover the costs.

Offer

Do you rock the interview? Then we will make you an offer. Are you in agreement with our proposal? Then we will send you the contract and together we will determine your exact start date. Welcome to HORNBACH!
