Team Leader and Senior Fire Safety Advisor

Are you an experienced Fire Safety Advisor who not only excels in complex, large-scale projects but also enjoys taking the lead in managing, coaching, and developing a team? In this role, you will combine technical expertise with leadership and play a key role in the further development of our Fire Safety team.

The Challenge 
As Team Leader Fire Safety at Deerns, you will be at the helm of a growing team of specialists and provide direction for its further development. The team currently consists of a mix of experienced experts and talented advisors and is in a phase of strong growth. It is your challenge to manage this growth effectively, to further expand and strengthen the team in terms of both size, quality, and positioning.

You will combine strategic leadership with in-depth technical knowledge and will be decisive for the quality, direction, and growth of the team. You will create an environment where professionals excel, knowledge is shared, and innovation is stimulated.

Fire safety is integral to every project. Whether it concerns the new construction of a hospital, a state-of-the-art cleanroom, the construction of a (wooden) residential tower, or the new construction, renovation, or transformation of a (multi-tenant) office complex. Fire safety plays a crucial role in all these designs.

In the role of advisor, you will operate at a senior level and work on complex fire safety issues within all our advisory groups: Healthcare, Clean Technology, Real Estate, and Airports. This ensures a wide variety of appealing projects, both nationally and internationally.

Together with a team of advisors and experienced experts, you will develop smart, effective, and future-proof fire safety concepts. You will help clients identify and manage fire risks, ensure that designs comply with laws and regulations, and align with the client's ambitions. Simultaneously, you will act as an in-depth sparring partner and mentor for colleagues within the team.

As Team Leader and Senior Fire Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for:

Team Leader:

• You will be ultimately responsible for the Fire Safety team, including the work backlog, results, quality, capacity, and progress of the work.

• You will actively manage the performance and development of your team members, conduct performance and development interviews, and intervene where necessary.

• You will monitor and optimize planning, productivity, and work distribution, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and to the required standard.

• You will be responsible for the technical direction and further professionalization of fire safety within Deerns.

• You will represent the team towards management and clients and advise on strategy, capacity, and team development.

• Together with the other 5 team leaders, you will be part of the Management Team (MT) of the Unit Building Performance NL, which, under the leadership of the Unit Director (Pieter Schepman), shapes the strategy and development of the Unit.

Fire Safety Advisor:

• You will have extensive contact with clients and potential clients on topics related to fire safety.

• You will provide integral and conceptual advice to our clients in the early design phases of projects.

• You will provide technical and procedural guidance to the colleagues with whom you work on projects.

• Together with other team members, you will perform (complex) fire safety calculations and contribute to design concepts.

• You will coordinate fire safety aspects with internal colleagues and external design parties in all design phases.

• You will identify bottlenecks, communicate about them, and ensure appropriate solutions.

• You will translate fire safety aspects into reports, floor plans, and 3D designs (Revit/BIM).
