Purapura Whetū Trust are seeking a Kaimahi with a clinical qualification who is passionate and skilled in working with Rangatahi who experience AOD and Mental Health co-existing problems (CEP).

The role is full-time with a focus on working with rangatahi from the age of 13 to 20 years. This role requires a Kaimahi with AOD counselling skills and youth work experience.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working with a range of services within the Community.

Te whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic Clinician committed to reducing the impact of alcohol and other drug related harm and improving mental health / general Hauora outcomes for Rangatahi.

You will work with rangatahi, whānau and their wider support networks to develop initiatives focusing on strengths and processes that are engaging and inclusive. You will apply your counselling skills to addressing individual challenges, identifying needs and working with whānau to develop strategies to achieve realistic outcomes.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu – What you will bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration (can be provisionally registered)
  • Experience in working with Rangatahi in counselling and group work. Facilitation of groups is a key part of the role alongside individual mahi
  • Recent experience working with Rangatahi with mental health and addiction challenges
  • Commitment to working within a Kaupapa Maori organisation, applying Matauranga Modalities in practice
  • Proven skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and intervention.
  • The ability to work both independently and team environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with whānau and community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Full NZ Drivers licence with clean Police Check

We are interested in kaimahi who can deliver the following key tasks in novel ways that reflect rangatahi culture and needs.

  • Work with Rangatahi to effectively to address concerns related to AOD and mental health challenges to achieve sustainable Hauora
  • Confidence in developing plans in partnership with Rangatahi to support integrated approaches across services
  • Deliver groups and individual approaches that respond to rangatahi needs and aspiration.
