Job description

For Lürssen Werft Rendsburg GmbH & Co. KG at the Schacht-Audorf/Rendsburg location

Much has changed in the company's over 150-year history, but our value compass and our passion for shipbuilding have not.

For four generations, we have remained – even in stormy seas – a family business consistently on course, ensuring excellent yacht building at the highest level through teamwork, quality, and innovation. At our locations in Bremen, Hamburg, and Rendsburg, we make our customers' dreams a reality with our exceptional products and services.

How do we achieve this? Through our crew. Our approximately 1800 employees are the engine, our think tank, our greatest success factor. We know that top performance can only be achieved with passion, trust, cooperation, and high professionalism. Because shipbuilding, besides precise skills, is above all one thing: teamwork.

Take the helm of your career yourself and become part of our crew. We are always open to new members of our shipbuilding family: Come aboard and discover new professional horizons!

Responsibilities
  • In this role, you will design, dimension, and integrate complex air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems for unique megayachts according to project requirements, comfort standards, and class regulations.
  • You will design HVAC systems according to requirements and create the associated turn-key inquiry and order specifications – from Air Handling Units and chillers to ducting, exhaust, fresh air, and ER ventilation.
  • For the subsequent implementation, you will create and review 2D and 3D layouts, schematics, parts lists, and technical specifications, and coordinate relevant interfaces with involved trades.
  • In supplier management, you will select and evaluate international suppliers, coordinate technical details with them, and review calculations, drawings, manuals, risk analyses, and certificate documents.
  • During the construction phase, you will stay on course: you will support production and quality control, clarify technical issues, and participate in shipyard inspections and acceptances.
  • Whether FAT, HAT, or SAT: you will support the commissioning and testing of the systems, undertake troubleshooting and optimizations, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ISO standards, and class regulations throughout all project phases.
  • As an expert contact person, you will assist owner representatives, flag states, and classification societies with technical questions and ensure reliable coordination of all relevant matters.

Profile
  • Completed degree in Naval Architecture, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in HVAC engineering, ideally in the yacht, shipbuilding, or offshore sector, as well as experience working with classification societies
  • Sound knowledge of thermodynamic calculations, air volume and pressure loss calculations, and the design of refrigeration capacities
  • Proficient in using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Cadmatic, or Rhino, as well as MS Office
  • Very good communication skills, especially in an international context, very fluent English both written and spoken, and willingness to undertake occasional business trips to suppliers and for testing assignments
  • Team spirit and a high sense of responsibility, strong commitment to performance, and a structured and solution-oriented approach to work
