Full Time Executive

Job description

We are looking for a System Administrator with focus on network infrastructure for a research institute in Halle(Saale). The project is initially limited to 6 months, but will likely be extended.

Tasks

· Administration, configuration and monitoring of network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN)
· Planning and optimization of active and passive network structures
· Maintenance and further development of firewall and security systems
· Expansion of IT security and monitoring solutions
· Automation of installation and configuration processes
· Support for setting up and operating research data management systems
· Collaboration with scientific teams to provide project-specific IT infrastructure
· Development and implementation of network solutions for data-intensive workflows

Qualification

· Knowledge in Layer-2/3 networks
· Experience in administering switches, routers, and firewalls
· Experience in administering Linux and Windows
· Experience in monitoring (e.g. Icinga, Nagios), automation (e.g. Ansible, SALT) and scripting (e.g. bash, Python)
· Experience with virtualization and container technologies
