System Engineer (m/f/d) Open Source Collaboration & Kubernetes

The LRZ, together with the Regional Computer Center Erlangen (RRZE), is working on the BaySov project. The aim of the project is the evaluation of sovereign, open‑source‑based alternatives to commercial cloud‑and collaboration services in order to strengthen the digital independence of Bavarian universities. For participation in the BaySov project to strengthen digital sovereignty, we are looking for you as a 

System Engineer (m/f/d) Open Source Collaboration & Kubernetes 

• Participation in a strategically important and future-oriented project for the digital future of Bavarian universities 
• Opportunity to actively shape modern open-source collaboration platforms 
• High degree of design freedom in an innovative technical environment 
• Technical evaluation of collaboration and groupware systems (openDesk, open-Xchange, grommunio etc.) 
• Setup and operation of test and pilot environments. 
• Close collaboration with experts in central areas (groupware, collaboration, identity management)

• Successfully completed (Master's) degree in Computer Science / Business Informatics or a comparable degree program
• Experience in administration, integration, or development of server services 
• Experience in setting up and operating containerized applications on Kubernetes
• Experience with infrastructure automation and DevOps tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, ArgoCD)
• Knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  1. Groupware / Mail systems
  2. Linux system operation, containerization, and cloud-native technologiesIdentity Management (SAML, LDAP, OIDC)
• Experience with or interest in open-source infrastructures and sovereign IT architectures
• quick comprehension and good teamwork skills
• Independent way of working and a high customer orientation
