System Engineer

Job description
Your Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of interdisciplinary product development for HMI, EAS and MD products, coordinating Software, Hardware and Mechanical Engineering activities throughout the complete product lifecycle.
- Define and maintain the Product System Architecture, lead system decomposition and ensure effective integration and alignment across HW, SW and Mechanical domains, including relevant mechanical interfaces.
- Translate customer, stakeholder and system requirements into clear technical specifications and solutions, ensuring consistent implementation, traceability and system-level validation.
- Act as the technical interface between customers and internal development teams, supporting design reviews, technical decisions, communication and structured resolution of technical issues.
- Coordinate technical resources and interfaces between Development, Production and other relevant functions, ensuring effective collaboration and successful industrialization.
- Lead cross-functional technical activities to achieve the required product functionality, quality, technical maturity and performance.
- Manage engineering changes, including PCN activities, variant updates, product modifications, optimizations and corrective actions, while assessing their technical impact on the overall system.
- Conduct and support system-level risk assessments, including FMEA and technical risk analysis, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Support customer claims and field issues through structured root-cause analysis and implementation of appropriate system-level corrective actions.
- Contribute to cost and efficiency improvements through standard solutions, VA/VE, VAVE, frontloading and other optimization initiatives.
- Monitor technical resources, project timing and budgets, and support testing, validation and assembly preparation for product launch and series production.
- Capture and apply lessons learned to improve product quality and development efficiency, while contributing to innovation and advanced engineering activities.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in System Engineering, technical project management or the development of complex interdisciplinary products, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong expertise in system architecture, multi-domain integration, requirements engineering and system-level validation.
- Good understanding of mechanical interfaces, hardware design and embedded software, with the ability to manage complex mechatronic systems.
- Solid knowledge of automotive development processes, tools and methodologies, including the V-model and APQP.
- Experience with project management, timing and requirements engineering tools.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety according to ISis a plus.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional and international development teams, including delegation, technical decision-making and resource coordination.
- Strong analytical, structured and solution-oriented approach, with excellent problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and moderation skills, with confidence in customer and stakeholder interactions.
- Fluent English, written and spoken; German is an advantage.
- Proactive, assertive and collaborative mindset, combined with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
