System Architect (m/w/x) - Camera & Video Processing

Form of Cooperation: Freelance or Permanent Employment possible
Project Duration: 11.03.2026 to 31.12.2028
The project includes architecture, development, and series release of the cameraView platform.
The focus of this position lies on system and software architecture, close cooperation with hardware and algorithm teams, and ensuring that all cameraView functions are completed, tested, and ready for series production by FM6 and SOP (Start of Production).
Tasks
Architecture & System Design
- Definition of End-to-End Architecture (Camera → ISP → Video-Pipeline → Apps → Backend)
- Architecture for Multi-Camera Systems (up to 8 Streams) including Synchronization & Latency Optimization
- Definition of Software Modules, Interfaces, and APIs (Android/Linux)
- Decisions on ISP Configuration, Encoder Pipelines, Streaming-, and Recording-Paths
- Responsible for Security-, Diagnostics-, and Performance-Concepts
Techical Responsibility
- Evaluation & Integration of Sensors, Interfaces (GMSL, I²C), Drivers, NPU Functions
- Creation/Review of System- and Software Requirements
- Analysis of Off-the-Shelf Functions & IQ-Tuning Strategies
- Surety of Compatibility to Vehicle Networks (CAN, IP, Diagnostics)
Development & Integration
- Close Cooperation with Teams for:
- Linux Framework (C++)
- Android App/SDK (Kotlin)
- NPU/Object Recognition
- ISP-Tuning & Image Quality
- Techical Guidance of internal Teams & Suppliers
- Leadership of technical Workshops and Architecture-Reviews
Quality & Series Readiness
- Surety of Maturity FM5 / FM6 / SOP
- Definition of KPIs, Monitoring Concepts, Test Strategies
- Techical Risk Analysis & Measures
- Contribution to CI/CD Concept & Deployment Strategy
Qualification
Must-Have
- ≥ 7 years of experience in Software/System Architecture for Camera/Video/Multimedia/Embedded
- Expertise in three areas:
- Linux-C++ Frameworks / Middleware
- ISP-Tuning / Image Processing
- Kamera-/Video-Streaming, Encoder, Media-Pipelines
- Android App/SDK (Kotlin/AOSP)
- NPU / Object Recognition
- Deep understanding of Camera/Video Interfaces (GMSL, I²C, MIPI)
- Experience with CAN, IP, Diagnostics & DTC
- Routine in CI/CD, GitHub Workflows, automated Integration
- Very good documentation- and communication skills
Nice-to-Have
- Automotive SPICE or similar Standards
- Experience with Timing-Analyses, Profiling, Low-Level-Debugging
- Series experience up to SOP
- Knowledge in UI/UX for Video-based Applications
