Job description

Are you a visionary leader in medical product development who not only sets technological direction but also inspires colleagues to move along? Do you have the ability to realize internal change and seize opportunities with our technical customers?

We are looking for a System Architect Medical Product Development who plays a key role in our projects for medical clients. You are at the forefront of product development and technologies. Together with the entire engineering team, you make decisions that lead projects to success in a controlled manner.

What are your tasks and responsibilities, among others?

  • You work closely with our Business Developers to acquire new clients and projects and, in workshops, you get clients excited about technical solutions.

  • You provide technical input for project proposals, including requirements regarding standards and product certification, conceptual designs, development work, and cost estimations.

  • After project confirmation by the client, you are technically ultimately responsible for the project. You create a detailed specification of the desired functionality and establish guidelines for standards and certification.

  • You define the system architecture, divide the system into subsystems, and create plans for verification and qualification.

  • During the development phase, you collaborate with other engineers on detailed specifications, planning, designs, implementations, and verification of subsystems.

  • You ensure the integration, verification, and qualification of the total system and deliver a complete set of design documentation.

  • The project concludes with the successful handover of the product to the client, the production location, and possibly a maintenance organization.

    What does Benchmark offer?

At Benchmark, you work on products that matter! Furthermore, we are an organization where you are given freedom, where entrepreneurship is rewarded, and where you are given the space to implement your ideas. We offer you a dynamic environment with the scope to make quick progress, grow, and take responsibility. You are part of a global company where the down-to-earth Twente culture has been preserved.

In addition, we offer:

  • Good salary: with a maximum of €8,150 gross per month based on a full-time work week and depending on your previous work experience and educational background.

  • Quarterly bonus: this is revenue-dependent and can amount to a maximum of 5% of your quarterly salary.

  • Vacation: enjoy 40 days off per year (27 vacation days and 13 ATV days).

  • Room for growth and development opportunities: for example, by participating in one of the many training courses of our Benchmark Academy, but also by following training that fits your wishes and us as an organization.

  • Flexible working hours: as long as you ensure your work is completed, there is the possibility within Benchmark to arrange your working hours flexibly.

  • Collaboration: through initiatives such as Lunch & Learn sessions, we learn from and with each other, and thanks to our Pitch Discovery Sessions, there is always room to work on your own projects and with new technologies.

What do we expect from our future colleague?

  • A completed bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering.

  • At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering and medical product development.

  • Experience with requirement management and the tools used for it.

  • Preferably knowledge of relevant European and American medical standards and regulations for medical product development such as ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and FDA 21.

  • Strong communication skills and experience in drafting technical documentation in English.
