Support Engineer Firewall & Network (m/f/d)

This position is to be filled for our company Medialine EuroTrade AG.

Do you want to not only operate firewalls and networks, but truly understand them?

With us, you are not a generalist for everything, but you develop specifically in the area of firewall and network. You analyze disruptions, configure firewalls, switches, and access points, and manage network environments for various clients. This allows you to gain significantly more practical experience with different manufacturers and environments in a short time than in a classic in-house IT role.

As part of our support team, you will be the point of contact for network and firewall topics, support our service desk with in-depth questions, and work closely with experienced support engineers. You don't have to be a network professional yet – initial practical experience is sufficient. We will expand your knowledge together through onboarding, knowledge transfer, and manufacturer certifications.

Tasks

• Acceptance, analysis, and processing of disruptions and requests in the area of network and firewall via telephone, email, and ticketing system
• Configuration and management of firewalls (e.g., Sophos Firewall, Fortinet FortiGate) – rule sets, NAT, VPN
• Administration of network components such as switches and access points (e.g., Ubiquiti UniFi, Fortinet or Sophos)
• Setup and support of site-to-site and client VPN connections
• Analysis of network problems (DNS, DHCP, VLAN, routing) together with our customers
• Documentation of configurations, changes, and solutions
• Support of our Service Desk as a technical contact for network and firewall topics
• Collaboration with our Support Engineers on more complex topics and projects
• Work according to defined processes and quality standards

Qualification

What you should bring

• Completed IT training (e.g., IT Specialist System Integration) or comparable practical experience
• Work experience in IT support, service desk, or system administration
• Basic understanding of networks (TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, DNS, DHCP)
• Initial practical experience with firewalls (e.g., Sophos Firewall or Fortinet FortiGate) and/or network components (e.g., Ubiquiti UniFi)
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows client operating systems
• Enjoy analyzing technical problems and interest in specializing in the network and security environment
• Service-oriented and customer-focused mindset
• Independent and structured way of working
• Very good German language skills and good English language skills

Advantageous

• Experience in a system house or MSP environment
• Knowledge of Sophos Central, FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer or UniFi Network Controller
• Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Sophos Certified Engineer, Fortinet NSE 4, Cisco CCNA)
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory or Microsoft 365
• Initial exposure to virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware)
• ITIL knowledge or corresponding certifications
• Driving license class B
