Join our team and play a key role in supporting our facilities maintenance and asset management activities under the Auckland Transport AMAS (Asset Management and Services) contract. Reporting to Interface Manager - AMAS, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.
Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
The Supervising Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining critical station systems across the City Rail Link (CRL) and Britomart Station network.
You’ll assist and supervise service delivery partners while undertaking and coordinating maintenance activities in accordance with the AMAS Maintenance Plan — including low-level maintenance tasks such as routine inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
This role combines hands-on technical work with oversight of subcontractor activities in a 24/7 operational rail environment, supporting Downer’s commitment to Zero Harm, reliability, and service excellence.
What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
- Prioritise safety above all else, demonstrating commitment to Zero Harm.
- Assist and supervise service delivery partners and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and quality maintenance delivery.
- Undertake and coordinate maintenance activities as detailed in the AMAS Maintenance Plan, including low-level maintenance tasks (routine inspections, cleaning, and component replacement).
- Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record work orders, asset status, and maintenance completion.
- Plan and organise maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maintain station operational readiness.
- Foster collaboration between technicians, subcontractors, and station operations teams to support safe and efficient delivery.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and participate in toolbox talks, shift briefings, and lessons-learned reviews to enhance team capability.
- Work across three shift patterns and participate in an on-call roster as required.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills (experience required)
- NZ-recognised trade qualification in Mechanical (e.g. HVAC, fitting, refrigeration), Electrical (EWRB Electrician or Electrical Service Technician), or Plumbing/Drainlaying.
- Experience in facilities maintenance or building services within complex environments (transport, industrial, or healthcare).
- Demonstrated experience assisting and supervising subcontractors and service delivery partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proven ability to work safely under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Zero Harm principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel with basic CMMS experience preferred.
- Full NZ driver’s licence required.
More than anything, you’ll bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.
