Summer is coming! Internship Applications are now Open!

Are you a talented and ambitious university student studying Chemical, Electrical or Control Systems Engineering? and looking to gain practical experience in your field of study? We have the perfect opportunity for you to join OceanaGold working at our Waihi operation.

This paid internship opportunity will run approximately from mid to late November through to mid-February (dependent on exam timetable of the successful applicant).

What will you, be doing?

  • Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
  • Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
  • Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.

Specific project work will involve:

  • Process Plant Improvements.
  • Complete mini-trials with the Plant Metallurgist to improve plant performance and control.
  • Work with the Control Systems Engineer to complete PowerBI reports and improve database reporting.
  • Setup a Gold-room critical variables page.
  • Support work to identify critical spares for site.
  • Review recently updated plant piping & instrumentation diagrams.
  • Support development of Mechanical SOP's.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Improving plant efficiencies and processes.
  • Working amongst our engineers, processing team and underground crews gaining experience in chemical, electrical and control systems engineering based at Waihi underground mine.
