At our Howden Turbo GmbH location in Frankenthal, we develop, manufacture, and service turbo compressors and steam turbines. Our products are specialized for industrial applications and the process industry (petrochemicals and refineries, chemicals, metallurgy, and wastewater treatment) and are also ideally suited for regenerative power generation. With around 600 employees at our site, we operate globally as an innovative turbomachinery manufacturer and are committed to the more responsible use of our planet's resources. In our international company, you will pursue a future-oriented Mechatronics study program. Over a 3-year study period, you will earn the state-recognized degree of "Bachelor of Engineering". Within this study program, we offer the specialization "General Mechatronics".

This top-tier study program is your key to the future: a sought-after educational path offered by Howden and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). In parallel with lectures, practical courses, and exercises at DHBW, training and practical phases will take place at Howden, which are coordinated with the theoretical part of the DHBW program. This allows us to offer you an integration of academic learning and application-oriented practice. Customer and service-oriented thinking and action are as important to us as project- and team-oriented work.

After completing your studies, you will possess extensive technical, methodological, economic, and personal competencies, thus being well-equipped to face the diverse challenges in various task and business areas.

Content of Practical Study Phases

During your practical phases at Howden Turbo, you will be intensively prepared for the activities of our Field Service Specialists and actively participate in our service organization from the outset. You will accompany international assignments at our customers' sites and commission state-of-the-art industrial plants, such as steam turbines and turbo compressors. Subsequently, you will hand over the plants to the future operator. You will be the interface to our customers, ensure trouble-free operation through preventive maintenance, and in case of service, you will be the on-site expert who assesses the condition of components and, in collaboration with specialists, ensures the high quality of our plants and systems. Alongside this, you will get to know our products and interface departments (Project Management, Design, Development) through an internal factory tour. Internal training will additionally prepare you for your future role.

Content of Theoretical Study Phases

The foundational studies will cover subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering (Technical Mechanics and Design Theory), and Mechatronic Systems. The foundational studies will be followed by advanced studies: Materials Science, Business Administration (Project Management, Law), Electronics, Robotics and Digitalization, Electrical Machines, Automation Systems, Micro CPU Technology, Actuator and Sensor Technology.

In addition to your fundamental interest in modern technology, you should enjoy working with people and have the drive to work independently and with particular responsibility. You should be eager to take on new challenges, possess strong analytical thinking, and primarily mathematical-technical understanding. You should also demonstrate initiative, communication and teamwork skills, as well as flexibility and mobility. A strong willingness to travel, customer orientation, cultural openness, and good English skills will round off your profile.
