What you will do

Nurse

Do you want to work at the Medical Service of the Navy or the Army after completing your Nursing degree? With the Defense Study Deal Healthcare, you study for free and will have a guaranteed starting position. Defense will reimburse your tuition fees, books, laptop, study materials, excursions, certifications, and work clothing. Upon successful completion, you will immediately start as a Junior Officer Nurse!

Officer Military Doctor

As an Officer Military Doctor in the Medical Service, you will provide integrated care as a general practitioner, occupational physician, insurance physician, and GGD doctor in one, with attention to the physical, psychological, and social well-being of naval personnel. You will perform preventive work such as vaccinations and workplace inspections, both in and out of the sickbay, and provide aftercare, including medical examinations after deployments.

Where you will work

You can choose a career as a Junior Officer Nurse in the Navy or the Army, each with unique work areas. If you choose the Navy, you will work worldwide on naval ships, including submarines. Here you will perform pre-diagnoses, conduct physical examinations, and often independently care for military patients, even in emergency situations. Sea legs are essential, as sailing and deployments to crisis areas are a standard part of your job.

If you choose the Army, you will work in a military hospital. You will treat and prepare wounded and patients for transport, perform medical tasks independently, and lead medical caregivers. Furthermore, you will provide lessons for your own team and other units.

As an Officer Military Doctor, you will be present where our men and women serve: on ships, barracks, or in the field. You will hold consultations in various environments, such as the sickbay, a consulting room ashore, or even in a tent in the jungle. Operational conditions bring challenges: limited diagnostic possibilities, no direct referrals in emergencies, and long-term direct care for your patient.

Your starting salary depends on your age, education level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will grow with you. In addition, as a military member, you will receive various structural and incidental allowances on top of your salary. With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

MBO 3, MBO 4, HAVO, VWO, HBO, WO Wearing glasses or contact lenses is not a problem.

You are pursuing an MBO 4 or HBO degree in Nursing or the university program Medicine to become a general practitioner (Master's). You can apply as soon as you have studied for at least 6 months in your program.
