GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is an internationally active social science institution of the Leibniz Association, funded by the federal and state governments. 

 
We are looking for a*n starting on 10/01/2026 at the Mannheim location for the Data and Research on Society, German Microdata Lab Team department
 

Student Assistant

(15.20 € / 16.09 € hourly wage, 36 hours per week, fixed-term)
 

Monitoring current societal developments is a core task of the social sciences. The Data and Research on Society department supports social research in this task by providing comprehensive data and tools for describing and analyzing social change.

The German Microdata Lab (GML) acts as an interface between empirical social research and official statistics. We prepare data from official statistics and offer extensive research-based services for this data.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Assistance in the preparation and documentation of data from the European Labour Force Survey (EU-LFS)
  • Literature research and preparation
  • Support with research activities


Your Profile:

  • Very careful, reliable, and independent way of working
  • Good knowledge of R, Stata, or another statistical program
  • Initial experience in data preparation and analysis
  • Very good German and good English skills
  • Interest in a long-term employment
  • Student of a social science Bachelor's or ideally Master's program
