Job description

Statutory Accountant – Monterrey, Nuevo León

Temporary Position – 6 Month Coverage -


Position Objective

Ensure the timely and accurate fulfillment of the company's accounting, tax, and statutory obligations in Mexico, guaranteeing the correct preparation of financial information and adherence to current legal provisions, in coordination with regional and corporate teams.


Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly accounting closing process, recording provisions and entries related to taxes and statutory requirements
  • Prepare and review financial and tax information in accordance with applicable Mexican regulations
  • Prepare and follow up on federal and local tax declarations, provisional payments, and other tax obligations
  • Perform calculations of ISR, IVA, and deferred taxes, as well as corresponding reconciliations
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax projections
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls established for tax and accounting processes
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and automation in tax compliance processes
  • Coordinate and attend internal and external audits and respond to requests from tax authorities
  • Monitor changes in Mexican tax legislation and evaluate their impact on business operations
  • Maintain effective communication with Regional and Corporate Finance and Tax teams
  • Support special projects and other activities related to the financial area


Requirements

  • Degree in Public Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (desirable)
  • Intermediate-advanced English (essential)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in fiscal accounting, tax, or statutory compliance positions
  • Solid knowledge of Mexican tax legislation and SAT regulations
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tax declarations, ISR, IVA, DIOT, and compliance with tax obligations
  • Knowledge of CFDI 4.0 and electronic invoicing processes
  • Experience in handling internal and external audits
  • Intermediate-advanced Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar)
