Graduation Internship: Optimization of Machine Inspections

What will you do?

Within Customer Service, Voortman performs periodic machine inspections to assess the technical condition of machines and advise customers on maintenance, repairs, and possible improvements. These inspections form an important basis for increasing the reliability, performance, and lifespan of machines.

The current inspection process has grown organically over the years. As a result, inspection questions are not always interpreted in the same way, assessments differ between technicians, and findings are not always recorded uniformly. Reporting to customers can also be made clearer, more consistent, and more action-oriented in certain areas.

During this assignment, you will analyze the entire machine inspection process and develop a renewed working method that aligns with the current and future needs of our service organization. You will look not only at the content of inspection questions but also at how inspectors gather information, perform assessments, record findings, and communicate results to customers.

You will be involved in, among other things:

• Analyzing the current machine inspection process and identifying areas for improvement;

• Developing a logical and uniform structure for machine inspections;

• Reformulating and standardizing existing inspection questions;

• Establishing clear assessment criteria for the technical condition of machine parts;

• Developing a uniform method for recording measurements, findings, photos, and recommended actions;

• Improving inspection reports so that technical findings are presented clearly, unambiguously, and action-oriented;

• Preparing an implementation proposal for the renewed inspection process within Customer Service.

The final result will be a practical and substantiated improvement plan with which Voortman can perform machine inspections uniformly worldwide and support customers even better with clear inspection reports and maintenance advice.

• Bachelor's degree in the direction of Business & Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
