Job description
At Withings, we develop connected health devices: our smart scales, hybrid watches, blood pressure monitors, sleep trackers, and all the devices in our range are now used by millions of users. Our goal is to enable the prevention, screening, and management of a number of chronic diseases through innovative products and services in order to revolutionize how we take care of our health.
Within the Machine Learning team, we develop algorithms to extract physiological and medical information for our users such as SpO2, heart rate, the presence of various pathologies like atrial fibrillation, sleep apnea…
We are looking for an intern motivated by health-related topics with skills in signal processing, machine learning, and deep learning to help us design the algorithms of tomorrow.
Your mission
The objective of this internship is to design, develop, and validate algorithms capable of extracting reliable physiological and medical information from physical signals collected by our devices.
To successfully complete this exciting mission, the intern will have the opportunity to:
- Explore and analyze real physiological datasets from our users, searching for relevant markers.
- Design and develop algorithms combining innovative signal processing techniques, fine-tuned computer heuristics, and Machine Learning and Deep Learning approaches (supervised or unsupervised).
- Work on algorithmic optimization for embedded implementation, potentially in C language, on resource-constrained systems.
- Participate in defining success criteria and metrics to measure performance, and evaluate algorithm performance on various datasets.
This internship offers complete immersion in the development of a cutting-edge connected health product, with practical application and direct impact on users' lives. You will join a multidisciplinary and dynamic team, where your contribution will be essential to transform an algorithmic prototype into an embedded feature of our devices, compliant with the reliability and performance requirements of the medical industry.
The precise topic will be discussed with the intern at the latest a few weeks before the internship.
Requirements
- Theoretical knowledge in signal processing and machine learning
- Computer skills: Python programming, initial experience with a deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow) is a plus
- Bonus: C programming
- Interest in machine learning
- Interest in connected health applications
- Ability to read scientific and technical English
- Writing skills, rigor, and autonomy
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Duration: 4 to 6 months
Benefits
Joining the Withings adventure means:
- Integrating one of the pioneers and world leaders in connected health, multiple award winner at the Consumer Electronics Show.
- Contributing to innovative and ambitious projects for the health of tomorrow in an agile and constantly evolving environment.
- Joining an international company, a member of the FrenchTech 120, with teams based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Boston, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen.
- Participating in the continuous improvement of our products and services by beta-testing them before their release, especially during our numerous sports sessions with colleagues.
- Attending conferences by health professionals to strengthen your knowledge in the medical field.
- Collaborating with passionate colleagues and celebrating each of our successes together!
All applications received are reviewed independently of the candidate's ethnicity, beliefs, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or health status. Withings aspires to offer and guarantee equal opportunities to candidates, and only authorized personnel (HR and Management) will have access to information concerning your application.
