Job description
KANVAZ is responsible for social housing in 18 municipalities in the Tienen–Diest–Aarschot region. With a team of approximately 80 colleagues, spread across two offices in Tienen and Diest, we manage over 3,600 homes. Every day, we are committed to offering people a quality and affordable home. The organization is managed by a management team responsible for the policy and organizational leadership of KANVAZ. This management team includes the general director, the staff employees (policy and organization, jurist, and communication), and the four managers. Together, they determine the course of KANVAZ and ensure coherent, future-oriented, and quality operations. Job Description As a staff employee jurist, you are part of this management team and work closely with the general director, fellow staff employees, and managers. From your legal expertise, you actively contribute to strategic choices, policy support, and organization-wide decision-making. Both the staff employees and the managers report directly to the general director. Profile You are socially committed and actively promote the mission and values of social housing. From this conviction, you want to help build sustainable, quality, and affordable housing and make conscious choices that make a difference for residents and the organization. You hold a master's degree in law and combine strong legal knowledge with a broad view of organization and policy. You feel at home in a public or socially relevant context and have an affinity with regulations within social housing. Experience within or knowledge of domains such as administrative law, tenancy law, public procurement, contract law, construction law, and privacy law (GDPR) is a significant asset. As a staff employee jurist, you are part of the management team and contribute to KANVAZ's strategic policy. You translate legislation and legal developments into a legally correct, future-proof, and workable organization, and take an active role in the preparation, development, and follow-up of policy objectives. You ensure a consistent legal line and support management and the board in well-founded decision-making. You are the central legal point of contact within the organization and provide clear, useful, and practical advice to colleagues on a wide range of legal issues. You meticulously follow up on legal files, coordinate external legal advice where necessary, and are responsible for correct reporting. In addition, you play a key role in the complaints policy and contribute to the further improvement of procedures, service delivery, and internal operations through analysis and reflection. You work in close collaboration with colleague teams, including on tenant files, public procurement, and purchases, always ensuring legal correctness, diligence, and proportionality. You have a strong analytical ability, can make connections, and clearly translate complex information. Finally, you are communicatively strong: you communicate clearly, professionally, and connectively, know how to make legal matters understandable, and easily build collaborations with internal and external partners such as lawyers, courts, and other organizations. Offer At KANVAZ, you get the opportunity to make an impact and actively contribute to achieving sustainable, affordable, and quality housing in our region. All this within a family-like and informal working atmosphere together with committed and motivated colleagues: We offer you:
- a full-time contract of indefinite duration (38 hours);
- a permanent location in Tienen, within a flexible work organization with flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home, where you also regularly work at our location in Diest in function of collaboration and coordination;
- a market-conform salary according to the KANVAZ salary scale – salary scale 4 (A111-A112), with a gross starting salary ranging between €4,109.37 and €6,319.18 depending on your seniority;
- additional benefits such as meal vouchers, hospitalization and group insurance, and a year-end bonus;
- reimbursement for commuting expenses (car or bicycle) or a contribution for public transport;
- a mileage allowance for business travel with your own car;
- ample training and development opportunities, tailored to your role and professional growth.
