Staff Platform/DevOps Engineer (m/w/d)
Job description
Pipelines, that nobody wants to touch. Alerts, that nobody reads anymore. Deployments, where everyone holds their breath. Sounds familiar? Then it's time to change.
We're building B2B software for industrial customers and the platform behind it needs someone who understands Delivery, Automation, and Observability not just theoretically, but systematically takes it to a new level. Together with the DevOps Lead, side by side with the Engineering team.
Reliability, traceability, and maintainability are not posters on the wall here. They're the benchmark for everything that goes into production.
Aufgaben
Your Role
- The CI/CD architecture is yours. You decide how code gets safely and reproducibly from commit to production. You shape the pipelines, set GitOps principles deliberately in place, and define clear guidelines for rollbacks and change control.
- The Observability program? That's yours too. You operate and improve the existing stack, define what good telemetry really means, and ensure that every service has visibility that enables decisions, not just fills dashboards.
- If the architecture evolves further, you're the person who evaluates new tools and practices. Not because they're new, but because they make a real difference, always with an eye on operational reality and trade-offs.
What You'll Be Moving
- Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Ansible. Shorten feedback cycles, ensure reproducibility, codify rollback policies.
- Safeguard the entire software lifecycle from development to operation, with automation, validation, and continuous improvement as the underlying principle.
- Standardize repository topology, environment promotion, secrets, and drift handling. Clearly document where GitOps applies and where exceptions apply.
- Operate and further develop the runtime stack. Choose rollout strategies (Blue/Green, Canary, Feature Flags) based on risk and environment type, and implement them.
- Together with the Engineering teams, standardize logging and metrics. Fluentd, Loki, and Grafana are yours to manage, structured logs, actionable metrics, alerting that doesn't annoy, and SLOs that actually trigger actions. Built-in, not bolted on.
- Improve secrets handling, image hygiene/SBOMs, backup and restore procedures, and baseline hardening.
- Detect and fix problems with well-tested updates. Only introduce new tools if they meet real operational requirements.
Qualifikation
- Fundamental experience in designing and operating CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Ansible, and the willingness to rethink the stack.
- A clear understanding of how pipelines span the entire lifecycle from local development to production operation, with traceability, monitoring, and validation at every stage.
- GitOps readiness: repo layouts, promotion models, secrets management, drift, and exception handling.
- Kubernetes and service discovery/management are familiar concepts.
- Deployment strategies like Blue/Green, Canary, and Feature Flags.
- A deep understanding of Observability, logs, metrics, traces, cost/K-cardinality control, alert fatigue.
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python and Bash (PowerShell is a plus).
- Safe handling of Git in daily development and operation.
- Solid foundations in Linux, containers, and network basics (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, OSI model).
Benefits
- A competitive annual salary. A 35-40 hour workweek that promises work-life balance.
- A relocation package with moving support and help finding a new apartment.
- Wellpass membership from €10/month. Job ticket for discounted public transportation.
- Sponsored German courses. Snacks, drinks, and really good coffee.
- A modern office in Hamburg with a panoramic view.
- An international team that sticks together.
- Genuine design freedom. Flexible working hours.
