Job description
We’re looking for a Staff Front-End Engineer who can bring world-class craft, taste, and engineering excellence to our product experience.
We find purpose in enabling others to build things that improve their lives. We make software development enjoyable, batteries-included, and productive. We unlock developers, start-ups, and enterprises to confidently ship and scale amazing application at a velocity they didn’t think was possible.
This role is for someone who thinks in interactions and systems, obsesses over polish and performance, and can take a product from Figma to production with the intentionality of a top-tier design engineer. This is a chance to start with an fresh repo and build a world-class dotcom for one of the world’s most popular open source projects.
What You’ll Do
- In parternship with Marketing, lead the front-end architecture of our core products using Next.js/React ensuring exceptional performance, reliability, and developer experience.
- Own the user experience end-to-end: from partnering with design to crafting highly interactive, elegant interfaces that feel as good as they look.
- Implement thoughtful, scalable front-end systems and component libraries that elevate quality and speed across the entire engineering org.
- Shape the integration layer between our React front-end and Laravel back-end, building clean, resilient APIs and data flows.
- Push the boundaries of modern web performance — optimizing for speed, interactivity, and fluid motion across devices.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design to prototype quickly, iterate intentionally, and ship experiences that feel premium and effortless.
- Mentor engineers across front-end and full-stack teams, raising the bar for craft, code quality, and design sensitivity.
- Contribute to the long-term technical vision for how developers build and ship on Laravel Cloud.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring- 8+ years of experience building production-scale web applications, with deep expertise in Next.js, React, TypeScript, and modern front-end architecture.
- Taste. You have a strong aesthetic sense and care deeply about the nuance of spacing, animation, typography, and interaction fidelity.
- Demonstrated experience building polished, high-performance user interfaces admired for their clarity and speed.
- Strong systems-thinking: You can design component models, state management patterns, data-loading strategies, and routing architectures that scale elegantly.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to productively partner with designers, backend engineers, and product leaders.
- Experience integrating with or building back-ends — ideally Laravel, PHP, or modern REST/GraphQL API stacks.
- A bias toward iteration: prototype fast, refine continuously, and ship without compromising on quality.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive cross-functional decisions at staff level.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems at scale.
- Familiarity with server components, edge rendering, caching strategies, and Web Vitals optimization.
