Job Description Visa Research conducts both applied and fundamental research to push the boundaries of technologies relevant to the future of commerce, security, and payments at global scale. We work at the intersection of advanced science, technology innovation, and business impact, partnering with Visa’s technology and product organizations, global business units, academic institutions, industry partners, and government agencies to develop transformative capabilities for the future. Visa is eager to attract a talented and innovative Principal Research Scientist who will lead research initiatives that drive business value and advance the state of the art in quantum computing. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of publishing high-impact papers, presenting at top-tier conferences, and securing funding from government agencies or private foundations. This role is an opportunity to join a dynamic team that is shaping the future of commerce and payments. Key responsibilities include: • Designing and executing research initiatives that advance the state of the art in quantum computing and drive business value for Visa. • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including technology, product, and business units, to develop transformative capabilities for the future. • Publishing high-impact papers and presenting at top-tier conferences to share research findings and build thought leadership. • Securing funding from government agencies or private foundations to support research initiatives. • Mentoring junior researchers and providing guidance on research methodologies and best practices. • Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in quantum computing and applying this knowledge to drive innovation and business value for Visa. Requirements: • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, or a related field. • 8+ years of experience in research and development, with a strong track record of publishing high-impact papers and presenting at top-tier conferences. • Proven expertise in quantum computing, including but not limited to: quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, and quantum simulation. • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB. • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
