Specimen Collection Technician – Rako Science Permanent, Part-time New Lynn, Auckland Who we are | Ko wai mātou: Rako Science is a part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. About the role | Mō te tūranga: As a Specimen Collection Technician, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other biological samples from patients in a clinical setting. This includes preparing equipment, taking patient histories, performing venipuncture procedures, and maintaining accurate records of specimen collection. You will also work closely with our laboratory team to ensure that all specimens are properly handled and transported to the laboratory for analysis. Key responsibilities | Ngā kaihautū whakamārama: • Collect blood and other biological samples from patients in a clinical setting. • Prepare equipment, take patient histories, perform venipuncture procedures, and maintain accurate records of specimen collection. • Work closely with our laboratory team to ensure that all specimens are properly handled and transported to the laboratory for analysis. • Maintain accurate records of specimen collection and transport. • Participate in quality control activities to ensure compliance with laboratory standards. What you'll need | Ngā mea kī mai: • A relevant qualification in a biological or medical science, such as a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. • At least 1 year of experience working in a clinical setting, preferably in a pathology or medical laboratory environment. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Physical stamina to perform venipuncture procedures and lift equipment.
