Job description

Billing Specialist

Strategic position within a law firm in Montreal, requiring 2 years of experience in billing. Exposure to electronic billing (Elite/3E), full-time position, competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

This is what you'll get :

• Permanent full-time position.
• Competitive salary between $60,000 and $70,000.
• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Presence required at the office 5 days a week.

Responsibilities :

• Generate draft invoices (pre-invoices/proformas) for professionals.
• Make modifications and revisions according to internal directives and client instructions.
• Prepare final invoices and ensure distribution (email or eBilling platform).
• Provide supporting documentation, if necessary.
• Support colleagues during peak periods.
• Coordinate with the accounting department to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain up-to-date billing information records.
• Respond to inquiries about billing.
• Ensure successful submission of electronic invoices via client portals (e.g., Bottomline, TyMetrix, CounselLink, CounselGo, etc.).
• Analyze rejected or refused invoices, outstanding accounts, and resolve issues.
• Manage the list of files to be closed or completed.
• Prepare client reports on request.
• Respond quickly to internal and external requests.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects.

You'll need to succeed :• +2 years of experience in billing.
• Prior experience in a law firm or professional services (an asset).
• Experience with electronic billing (a significant asset).
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Proficiency in legal billing software (e.g., Elite, 3E).
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Team spirit and autonomy.
• Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment.
• Willingness to learn and evolve.
• Bilingual in English and French, required for applying client billing directives, submitting invoices on portals like Bottomline, TyMetrix or CounselLink, and communicating with internal teams.
