Geotechnical Specialist – Infrastructure

Role Mission


The Geotechnical Specialist will be integrated into multidisciplinary teams engaged in the design and realization of complex infrastructure works. The resource will contribute to the development of geotechnical and geological analyses to support the design of foundations, retaining structures, tunnels, embankments, and stabilization interventions, collaborating with civil and structural designers and Project Managers to ensure technical solutions that are safe, efficient, and compliant with current regulations.


⚙️ Main Responsibilities


  • Develop geotechnical studies and analyses for infrastructure projects.
  • Interpret geognostic investigations, in-situ tests, and laboratory tests.
  • Perform stability verifications for slopes, excavations, embankments, and retaining structures.
  • Design shallow and deep foundations, diaphragm walls, retaining walls, and consolidation works.
  • Perform geotechnical calculations in compliance with NTC (Norme Tecniche per le Costruzioni) and Eurocodes.
  • Collaborate with civil and structural design teams for the integration of geotechnical solutions.
  • Support the definition of geological and geotechnical investigation campaigns.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, technical drawings, and design documentation.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, Works Supervision, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during the design phases and, where required, during the execution of works.


Required Qualifications


Education

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental and Territorial Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Professional qualification to practice the profession.

Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the role of Geotechnical Engineer, preferably in the infrastructure sector.
  • Experience in the geotechnical design of complex civil works.
  • Experience in railway, road, highway, port projects, or underground works is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of geotechnical engineering applied to infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the Italian Technical Standards for Construction (NTC) and Eurocodes.
  • Experience in interpreting geotechnical and geological tests.
  • Experience in the design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and consolidation interventions.
  • Knowledge of the main geotechnical calculation software (e.g., PLAXIS, MIDAS GTS NX, Rocscience, Geostru, Paratie Plus, or equivalents).
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with BIM environments (Civil 3D, Revit) for the integration of design models is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good knowledge of the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the design of tunnels and underground works.
  • Experience in slope stabilization and consolidation interventions.
  • Knowledge of the BIM methodology applied to infrastructure design.
  • Experience in ANAS, RFI, Port Authority, or major public works projects.
  • PhD, Master's, or specializations in Geotechnical Engineering.

Salary Range


Geotechnical Specialist – Infrastructure → The salary for this role ranges between €35,000 and €40,000 + meal vouchers + any allowances and corporate welfare, based on experience.

The position is classified under the CCNL Commercio e Terziario (National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Commerce and Tertiary) applied by our company.

The positioning within the range will be determined based on technical skills, specific experience in the role, and the outcomes of the selection process, according to objective and neutral criteria.

For candidates with particularly qualified profiles relative to the indicated range, a review may be considered subject to internal approval.
