Soldier Orientation Combat Functions (Havelte)

Introductory text

Your choice for the Army is set, but you don't know exactly which department yet... You'd prefer to experience that yourself before making your choice. The Army will actively help you with that!

What you will do

That's why, prior to the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL), you will have the opportunity to further orient yourself on the types of functions you can be considered for. This happens in the so-called 'Vooropkomst' (pre-arrival) and is based on your physical capabilities. During that period, you will discover the different units through presentations and a visit to the units. After this, you can indicate your preference for Armored Infantry, Scouts, and/or Armored Engineers.

After the Vooropkomst, you will start the BOKL and then follow a function-specific training that suits you. After this, you can start working as a soldier within the 43rd Mechanized Brigade.

Where you will work

After your application, you will be invited for the application and assessment process. If you successfully complete this, your career at the Royal Netherlands Army will begin with several weeks of Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen. After completing this training, you will be placed at one of the units and will get acquainted with all aspects of life on a barracks during the orientation period. You will participate in all service branches on the barracks and can thus prepare yourself well for your final choice. Afterwards, in consultation with your supervisor from the Army, you will make a choice and follow the function-specific training that belongs to it. Please note, your choice options may sometimes be limited by the number of available training positions and your prior education. For some vacancies, you need a specific educational background, so check the vacancies to see if you have it.

You must be in possession of a valid passport upon commencement of training!
