Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP level 2? Are you looking for an exciting and adventurous job? Then, as a Soldier Loader Leopard Tank in a Dutch tank unit in Germany, you are in the right place!

What you will do

Soldiers of the Cavalry are traditionally called hussars. As a Loader Soldier of a Leopard Tank 2A6, you are responsible for operating the (weapon) system and performing general assisting tasks as instructed. Your task includes preparing the (weapon) system for deployment, observing and subsequently detecting, classifying, and identifying threats, operating the (weapon) system, firing the secondary weapon system (turret machine gun), temporarily disabling the (weapon) system, performing maintenance, and managing associated equipment. Additionally, you will perform assisting tasks that include guiding the tank driver in unclear situations, continuously ensuring safety in and around the tank, and performing various tasks in and around the tank such as securing, camouflaging, and monitoring the radio. In short, a responsible and versatile task! The commander, driver, and gunner are your closest colleagues. Together with them, you form a tight-knit team as a crew.

Please note: There are multiple start dates throughout the year. The start date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Check. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and finalized with you.

Where you will work

You will work at the German 414 Panzerbataillon. This unit, belonging to the 43 (NL) Mechanized Brigade, is stationed in Lohheide, Germany, with 4 companies. One of these companies is a Dutch unit. The objective of the Dutch contribution to the German Armored Battalion is to maintain knowledge about the operational procedures of tank units from battalion level down to the level of a single tank.

After joining, you will first follow the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen or Oirschot. After completion, you will receive technical training in Germany. Upon starting the position (after completing the BOKL and job-specific training), you must possess a civilian driver's license B. If you do not have one, Defensie will help you obtain the license and cover the costs. However, you are responsible for obtaining the license in a timely manner.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any Soldier, you may be deployed.
