Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed as an ‘Infantry Soldier’ within the Ministry of Defence.

What you will do

As a Driver of a CV-90 Armored Vehicle, you will work with the most powerful unit of the Royal Netherlands Army. The CV-90 can transport infantry to and from the front and actively participate in combat itself. You are part of a group of 3 military personnel who jointly operate the vehicle. In addition, together with the vehicle commander, you are responsible for the 35mm rapid-fire cannon and a MAG 7.62mm machine gun that the vehicle is also equipped with. You perform your tasks in and around the vehicle. For example, you fire the cannon, maintain the vehicle, and know how to camouflage it well when necessary. In addition, you are of course an infantryman and train regularly in operating without a vehicle.

Note: there are multiple start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file containing a reporting date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore not correct. The start date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the psychological selection, the appointment medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these parts have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed.

Where you will work

You will be stationed with the 43 Mechanized Brigade in Darp. This brigade is largely located in the northern part of Overijssel. The brigade consists of two mechanized infantry battalions, of which you will become a part. Camaraderie is strong, and you are an indispensable link in that close-knit team.

Before you start working, you will first complete a training program, consisting of the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen or Oirschot, supplemented by the Maneuver Function Training (MFO) in Assen. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as an infantryman in a Mechanized Infantry Battalion.
