Do you enjoy being outdoors and working with your hands? Do you have an MBO level 2 diploma in a technical direction OR at least a VMBO BB diploma with a technical training direction? Then apply as a Soldier with the Armoured Engineers, who, together with the Infantry, form an indispensable link in Defence! As an Armoured Engineer Soldier, you will build bridges and detect mines for your colleagues, or create obstacles to stop the enemy.

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed as a 'Soldaat Pantsergenie' (Armoured Engineer Soldier) within Defence.

What you will do

As an Armoured Engineer Soldier, you will be busy building things in the field for your colleagues OR destroying things for the enemy. For example, you will build bridges, but also blow them up. You will lay mines and clear mines. You will also reconnoitre routes to see if your troops can move safely and reach their objective. Furthermore, you will be involved in defensive works, for example by digging tank ditches or creating holes in roads with explosives.

In addition, the Armoured Engineers support the Infantry in 'breaching' a door so that the infantry can clear buildings of enemies. Without the Armoured Engineers, the Infantry cannot get in. You, as an Armoured Engineer Soldier, will shoot or saw your way and the infantry's way in with a chainsaw or circular saw. Finally, you will support the BSB, police, and security services to safely gain access to buildings.

This depends, among other things, on the results of the fitness test, psychological assessment, medical examination, and security screening, which are part of the application process. Where you will work

You will work at an Engineer unit of the 41st Armoured Engineer Battalion within the 13th Light Brigade in Oirschot or at an Engineer unit of the 11th Armoured Engineer Battalion within the 43rd Mechanized Brigade in Havelte. You will participate in exercises and you should take into account that you may be deployed abroad. The Armoured Engineers go on exercise to Norway and the USA annually.

Before you start, you will first complete the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen or Oirschot. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as an Armoured Engineer Soldier in the Army.

After completing the AMO (Algemene Militaire Opleiding - General Military Training), you will be placed in an operational engineer unit. Here you will be internally trained as an armoured engineer with the following components: search (detecting explosives), laying explosives, and counter-mobility (to slow down the opponent). This training lasts four months. It is possible that later on you can advance to the Corporal role of Scout (advanced search teams). The specialists of the Engineers.
