Note: if you are hired for this position, you will be appointed to the Ministry of Defence as a 'Soldier Medical Provider.'

What you will do

As a Soldier Medical Provider, you will become part of the extensive medical service of the Army. You will work, for example, in a military field hospital, or as a driver of a military ambulance. You will support and assist nurses, care for the wounded, and prepare them for transport if necessary.

Maintenance of equipment and the setup, readiness, and dismantling of medical facilities are also part of your responsibilities. It may occur that you help build a complete sickbay with operating rooms, treatment rooms, and ICU departments during exercises and deployments.

Note: there are multiple start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file containing a start date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore not correct. The start date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the psychological assessment, the medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these components have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and finalized.

Where you will work

You will be placed with a medical unit:

·The 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot: the combat unit of South Netherlands. With their armored wheeled vehicles, they are fast and broadly deployable. For combat or peacekeeping operations, or deployment in disasters and emergencies worldwide, but also for ceremonial tasks in support of civilian authorities in the Netherlands.

·The 43 Mechanized Brigade in Darp: 'the powerhouse' of the Army. With heavy, armored vehicles, the 43 Mechanized Brigade is capable of striking quickly, hard, and decisively.

·The 400 Medical Battalion in Ermelo: The 400 Medical Battalion provides medical care for the entire armed forces. From first aid to surgical capacity and intensive care in high-quality mobile hospitals.

Before you start, you will first complete the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen or Oirschot, supplemented by a Job-Specific Training at the Institute for Defence Medical Training (DGOTC) in Hollandsche Rading. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately start your career as a Soldier Medical Provider. Possibly supplemented with various military driver training courses.

You will start in a challenging role, where you will work in a military field hospital, or as a driver of a military ambulance, truck, or armored vehicle. You will also assist doctors and nurses during deployments and operations. As you grow, you will gain more tasks and responsibilities. You can develop into a corporal, and with the right further training, you can even advance to non-commissioned officer.
