What you will do

The Army's Air Assault Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on location anywhere in the world within 20 days for aid or conflict resolution. Thanks to our helicopters, we at the Air Assault Brigade can quickly deploy our troops, but we also ensure the transport of weapons, equipment, food, and other supplies. The Medical Company is responsible for medical care within the Air Assault Brigade.

As a Medical Caregiver Soldier, you provide first aid and help the wounded in and out of a helicopter. You will also drive a light vehicle or military ambulance and will be busy maintaining your equipment and vehicle, and security and camouflage. It may also happen that during exercises and deployments you help build a complete medical facility with operating rooms, treatment rooms, and ICU departments. The maintenance of the equipment and the setup, readiness, and dismantling of medical facilities are therefore part of your responsibilities.

When you start in this position, it is important that you have a civilian driver's license B. If you don't have one? Then the Ministry of Defence will help you obtain the driver's license and cover the costs. You will be responsible for obtaining the driver's license on time.

Please note: There are multiple start dates throughout the year. After your application, you will receive a personal application file that includes an assembly date (start date), but this is not yet correct! Your start date will only be determined later. This is partly due to the results of your psychological assessment, the medical examination, and the security check. Once all parts of your application have been successfully completed, we will determine your start date.

Where you will work

As a Medical Caregiver Soldier, you will be assigned to the Medical Company of the Air Assault Brigade in Assen or Schaarsbergen. As a soldier, you will participate in various exercises and you must take into account that, like any soldier, you may be deployed.

Before you start working, you will first complete the General Military Training Air Assault (AMOL) in Schaarsbergen or Assen. After completing the AMOL, you will start the vocational training at the Defence Healthcare Training and Education Centre in Hilversum. If you do not yet have a driver's license at that time, you will also follow the driving training at the Training and Education Centre Driving in Oirschot.
