Software Engineering Manager - Cross-platform C++ - Multipass

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Cross-platform C++ team, responsible for delivering Multipass, a cross-platform virtual machine manager. Multipass allows users to launch Ubuntu instances on Windows, macOS, and Linux. This role is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team working on an open-source project and to have a significant impact on the developer experience. Key Responsibilities: * Manage and lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management. * Oversee the development, testing, and release of Multipass, ensuring high-quality software and timely delivery. * Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize features and roadmap. * Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. * Contribute to the design and architecture of Multipass, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance. * Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team. * Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in cross-platform development and virtualization. Required Skills and Experience: * Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager, leading and managing software engineering teams. * Strong proficiency in C++ and experience in cross-platform development (Windows, macOS, Linux). * Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., QEMU, VirtualBox, Hyper-V). * Experience with open-source software development and contributing to open-source projects. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Experience with Agile development methodologies. Bonus points for: * Experience with Go. * Experience with cloud technologies and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). * Experience with CI/CD pipelines. * Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
