Job description

You want to actively shape the energy transition?

Then join SPiNE Energy – the first start-up with a cyber-secure Energy App Store in Europe. Our mission: We're building the digital backbone of the energy transition – with scalable software on the Smart-Meter infrastructure.

As Software Tech Lead (m/w/d), you'll be responsible for developing and operating our scalable Energy-as-a-Service platform for innovative energy applications – from architecture to backend and embedded development, up to secure and performant delivery in production.

What we're doing:

SPiNE is developing the software stack for intelligent energy management on the secure Smart Meter infrastructure. Our API-centric platform enables municipal utilities and energy suppliers to implement new business models like dynamic tariffs, energy management, local optimization, network control, and the marketing of flexibility – reliably, scalable, and future-proof.

Tasks

  • You'll take responsibility for developing local applications for our Edge components.
  • You'll develop central building blocks in our application platform – from firmware to SDK.
  • You have a knack for efficient, robust solutions at the operating system level.
  • You'll help create technical roadmaps and scalable solutions for production operation.
  • You'll work closely with our CTO, the development team, and external partners.
  • You'll ensure clean interfaces, sustainable code quality, and sustainable architectural decisions.

Qualification

  • Multiple years of experience in developing complex software architectures, including containerization of applications.
  • No fear of the command line.
  • Experience with KI tools to support your own development.
  • Deep understanding of modern tech stacks (cloud architecture, API design, data modeling, security).
  • You're both conceptually and implementation-strong – from whiteboard to deployment.
  • You have experience with ticket systems (JIRA), version management (Git), and CI/CD.
  • Nice to have: Experience with IoT, energy management, or the Smart Meter infrastructure.
  • You're confident in English and speak German (at least B2 level).

Benefits

  • Meaningful work: Our software contributes to decarbonization and digitalization of the energy system.
  • Startup vibes: You'll be working with an experienced founding team with short decision-making paths.
  • Technology with substance: Over 100,000 lines of code, ongoing cooperation with established market partners, and a unique product on a regulatory secure foundation.
  • Flexibility and responsibility: We build on trust, self-responsibility, and smart solutions – not overhead.

If you're interested in shaping the energy transition from scratch with deep-tech solutions and driving the energy transition digitally forward, we look forward to your application with a brief CV and a few lines about your motivation.
