Software Engineer – Internal Tools & Automation (m/f/d)

Do you want to work as a Software Engineer with Python, APIs, and automation on solutions that are directly used in day-to-day operations? In this role, you will develop internal tools, services, and interfaces, translate requirements from business departments into pragmatic technical solutions, and meaningfully connect existing systems. You will work with modern web technologies, databases, and API-based integrations, and iteratively develop your solutions from initial prototypes and MVPs into stable, maintainable applications.

• You will further develop new and existing internal applications and services with Python and technically implement concrete requirements from our operational business.
• You will work together with our business departments to understand and structure business requirements, and to develop pragmatic technical solution approaches, prototypes, and MVPs from them.
• Together with the team, you will identify potential for automation and optimization and connect existing systems via APIs, databases, and interfaces.
• You will further develop functioning prototypes into stable and maintainable solutions and receive support and sparring from our technical team and the Core Platform Team on architectural questions and integration into central systems.
• With clean and testable code, automated tests, and understandable technical documentation, you will ensure the quality of your solutions and utilize modern AI tools where they meaningfully support your work.

• You already have practical experience in software development and have independently worked on applications, tools, or automation. You already have good knowledge of Python and/or JavaScript or TypeScript.
• You have a good fundamental understanding of APIs, databases, and basic software architectures, and have already worked with Git and collaborative development processes.
• You are familiar with the basics of clean, maintainable, and testable code and ideally already have initial experience with CI/CD, automated tests, or Docker. You don't need to be a professional in this yet.
• You enjoy thinking beyond pure technical implementation, are interested in the business context, and are eager to develop requirements together with technical and non-technical stakeholders. At the same time, you are curious, eager to learn, and open to feedback.
• You are already using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or comparable applications in your daily development work, or you want to engage more with them and learn to use them meaningfully and responsibly.
• You have at least B2 level German language skills for collaboration with our business departments, as well as at least B2 level English language skills for technical documentation, tools, and code.
