Software Engineer for Automation & AI Systems (m/w/d)

We are building a digital procurement engine for the German Mittelstand – and you're playing a key role in that.

This role is not a classical backend position. You develop as Software Engineer automated B2B business processes, build event-driven workflow systems, integrate ERP/CRM/Lieferanten-APIs, and bring AI into our core processes. Your code replaces manual work, accelerates our system, and makes complex workflows scalable.

Aufgaben

Phase 1: Rapid Prototyping in n8n

• Automating the entire RFQ process including pricing, validation & routing
• Integration of internal data sources and external supplier APIs
• Use of KI/ML components (LLMs, pricing models) for data extraction & decision logic
• Iterative testing with real data, fast improvement loops

Phase 2: Production Migration

• Implementation of workflows in GCP Cloud Functions (Python/Node.js)
• Built event-driven architecture with Pub/Sub
• Implementation of error handling, retry mechanisms & monitoring
• Built CI/CD pipelines and productive operation of KI-features

Deine Verantwortungsbereiche im Team

• End-to-end automation of RFQ, supplier sync, pricing & approvals
• Development of Cloud Functions & Pub/Sub-triggers
• API-integration (REST, Webhooks) & DB-accesses on PostgreSQL, BigQuery
• Built stable, robust workflow systems with DLQs, resilience patterns
• Maintenance & further development of n8n-workflows and GCP-services

Qualifikation

• Very good knowledge in Python (optional Node.js)
• Experience with serverless (Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, etc.)
• Practical experience with workflow/orchestration tools like n8n, Airflow, Temporal, Zapier or make
• Understanding of event-driven architecture (Pub/Sub, MQ, Events)
• Experience with SQL & relational DBs (PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Safe handling of REST-APIs, Git & CI/CD
• Pragmatism: MVP > perfection, speed > over-engineering
• Able to contextually choose the best technology for each problem

You use KI/ML to make workflows smarter, not more complicated.

• LLM-integration for data extraction from emails, PDFs, request documents
• Intelligent routing & decision making with ML-models
• Predictive pricing, forecasting & anomaly detection in processes
• Prompt engineering & optimization of LLM-outputs
• Handling non-determinism: error handling, guardrails, feedback-loops
• Clean data preparation for ML-models and RAG-workflows

Nice to have

• GCP-experience (Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
• n8n-deep-experience
• Terraform or IaC-tools
• Firestore / NoSQL
• Experience in 0-to-1-startup-build
• Vector DBs, RAG, fine-tuning, CV APIs
• Industry knowledge: connection elements, B2B-commerce
