Software Engineer Flight Operations Platform / Cloud & Backend (Python / AWS)

Unisphere builds pilot knowledge in software. Our Flight Operations Platform NOVA automates flight operations from drones and air taxis. For this, we develop cloud-based software products and technologies that enable industries without pilot knowledge to use unmanned aviation safely and efficiently.

Unisphere is a Constance Deep-Tech Startup founded in 2017. For our multinational team of around 20 people, we are looking for additional colleagues who want to take on the challenges of a startup in innovative aviation and shape the future with us.

Aufgaben

In close coordination with CTO, Engineering, and Product Management, you will be significantly involved in defining and further developing our cloud-based software platform NOVA as well as our API products for international customers in the air taxi and drone delivery sectors.

Specifically, you will:

• Development, integration, and maintenance of RESTful APIs based on Python, FastAPI, uv, SQLAlchemy, and Alembic
• Design and further development of distributed, cloud-native systems
• Use and productive operation of PostgreSQL
• Containerization using Docker as well as initial work with Kubernetes (Deployments, Services, Troubleshooting)
• Development and operation of productive cloud workloads in AWS, including:
  ECS, IAM, Cognito, CloudFront, Batch, S3, RDS
• Implementation of infrastructure with AWS CDK (Infrastructure as Code)
• Participation in our CI/CD pipelines based on GitHub Actions
• Collaboration in a small, efficient engineering team

Unisphere develops its products according to a consistent API-first approach, so that all functions are available both in our own frontend NOVA and through clearly defined APIs for our customers.

In addition, you will ensure the reliable operation of our system together with the team and actively participate in architectural decisions as well as the continuous development of our services.

Qualifikation

• Very good knowledge of the Python ecosystem
• Solid experience in developing scalable RESTful APIs
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL in productive systems
• Familiarity with Docker, initial knowledge of Kubernetes
• Experience with AWS (ECS, IAM, Cognito, CloudFront, Batch, S3, RDS)
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures & distributed systems
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably AWS CDKSolid understanding of Git, pull-request workflows, and branching strategies
• Basic knowledge of networks (Subnetting, DNS, VPN)
• Very good communication skills in German and English (must)
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
• A plus if you already have experience in the field of aviation or drones
