Job description
The Applications team develops and tests solutions that capture high-quality sensor data
from large cargo and offshore ships – data that our customers rely on via SCADA, the web, and other onboard applications. At the heart of our work is the Software Engineering Center, our in-house core application used company-wide for the conception and configuration of software projects for ships worldwide.
If something doesn't work, you'll be one of the points of contact that colleagues and customers turn to. You will be part of a friendly, cross-functional team near Hamburg, working agilely and pragmatically with short decision-making paths.
Your Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the development and continuous further development of the Software Engineering Center, from requirements through design, implementation, and testing to rollout
- Direct collaboration with colleagues from various departments to understand their needs and translate them into reliable functions
- Troubleshooting operational issues and bug fixing – your code runs on systems used company-wide, so quality and reliability are crucial
- Point of contact for colleagues and service technicians when something goes wrong
Profile
- University degree in computer science or a related field and/or sound professional experience
- 3-5 years of experience in software development with .NET (C#) as well as proven success in developing scalable, maintainable solutions
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git/SVN, Bamboo/Jenkins, and Bitbucket
- A pragmatic, analytical mindset – you can break down a complex technical problem into a clear plan
- Strong communication skills: you can easily explain technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical colleagues
- A customer-oriented, quality-focused approach to your work
- Very good German and good English skills for everyday work
- Resident in the Hamburg area or willingness to relocate
