Social Media & Community Outreach Manager
Job description
User Rights advocates for the protection of fundamental rights on social media. If contents are unfairly blocked or prohibited contents are not deleted, User Rights supports the enforcement of these rights.
As Germany's first independent dispute resolution platform for social media platforms, we shape the legal framework of the digital space actively - and thus contribute to the protection of fundamental rights and democracy in the internet. We are looking for a Social Media & Community Manager (m/w/d) to take our marketing, particularly on social media, to the next level and make User Rights visible through targeted community management.
Aufgaben
Community Outreach (~60%)
- Identification of relevant communities where discussions about blocking, platform arbitrariness, and content moderation take place
- Active, credible presence in these spaces - you will be part of the discussion, not an advertisement interruption
- BUILDING relationships with multipliers: creators, NGOs, journalists, platform-critical voices
- Reactive community management on our own channels
Social Media Content (~40%)
- Setup and editorial responsibility for our channels (platform mix will be determined together - focus where our target audience is)
- Preparation of real cases and legal themes in accessible formats: carousels, reels, threads, videos
- Editorial planning, content production (text, visuals, video editing), KPI tracking
- Paid Social: asset creation, testing, optimization
Qualifikation
- Demonstrable experience in building communities or reach - whether professionally, during studies, or through personal projects. We are interested in results, not degrees.
- A good feel for platforms, subcultures, and discourse dynamics. You recognize when a discussion is about to tip over and know when a comment is welcome and when it's not.
- Strong writing: short, clear, with attitude. You can explain complex legal issues in a way that sticks.
- Structured, independent working style - the role has high autonomy.
- German on C2 level, very good English.
- Bonus: Experience with paid social, video editing, Canva Pro; legal or political knowledge; personal reach.
We do not expect judicial expertise - but genuine interest in what we do.
Benefits
- A key role in a young, dynamic team that sets standards for the future of dispute resolution.
- Insights into a forward-looking field and the opportunity to actively promote freedom of opinion and fundamental rights in the digital context.
- Flexible working hours, partly remote work (also in European countries), 30 days' vacation (based on a 5-day week), modern equipment, and the opportunity to take on responsibility early.
- Laptop, if needed, a smartphone for professional use, and office equipment for home office
- Subsidy to Urban Sports Club
- A central & modern office in Berlin-Kreuzberg
Then apply now by email with motivation letter and CV.
We value diversity and recruit people of every ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, and family status.
Let's shape the digital future together!
