Site Reliability Engineer (w/m/d) - Defense Products

We are looking for a highly motivated expert to join our team at IONOS, the leading European provider of cloud infrastructure, cloud services, and hosting solutions. You will work closely with different teams to develop and maintain our central defense platforms that protect our hosting products and entire infrastructure. The focus lies on high-availability DDoS defense, supplemented by topics such as modern Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Zero Trust strategies, and our Content Delivery Network (CDN).

Aufgabenbereich

• Development and fine-tuning of logic for rapid and effective defense against DDoS attacks on network and application levels.
• Ongoing optimization of detection and mitigation pipelines for automated processing of attack patterns, including reporting.
• Automation of operational processes and infrastructure rollouts in collaboration with system administrators
• Provision of robust interfaces and services for seamless integration of defense products into hosting products.
• Administration and troubleshooting of our high-availability, complex infrastructures, including participation in on-call duty.

Qualifikationen

You hold a completed degree in computer science or a comparable vocational training. Your outstanding interest in security topics, particularly DDoS defense, and profound network knowledge set you apart.

We would like you to bring the following qualifications and experiences:

• Multiple years of experience in developing high-availability software artifacts in at least one of the following languages: Go, C, Python, PHP, Bash.
• Expertise in handling Nginx, preferably in combination with Lua for extending application logic, as well as practical knowledge in operating Nginx as a reverse proxy or Web Application Firewall (WAF).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation are core components of your own working methods.
• Fundamental knowledge of network protocols on Linux systems and experience with BGP, Flowspec, and Anycast Routing in the context of DDoS mitigation.
• Excellent analytical skills for rapid evaluation of DDoS attacks, implementation of countermeasures, and continuous development of defense platforms.
• Fluent English language skills in writing and speaking within our international team. German is a plus point.
