Site Engineer
Job description
We are partnering with a well-established civil contractor delivering a range of complex infrastructure works across New Zealand. With a strong pipeline of projects in the marine, structural, and heavy civil space, this is an opportunity to join a high-performing team working on technically challenging builds within live environments.
About the Role
We are seeking a capable Site Engineer to support the delivery of key infrastructure works. Reporting to senior project leadership, you will play a hands-on role in coordinating site activities, ensuring work fronts are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
This position suits someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is looking to step up within a technically demanding project.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day site activities across multiple work fronts
- Assist with planning, programming, and short-term lookaheads
- Support subcontractor management, including sequencing and resource coordination
- Maintain QA documentation and ensure compliance with specifications
- Monitor progress against programme and assist with reporting
- Contribute to cost tracking and forecasting of work packages
- Ensure strong health, safety, and environmental performance on site
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve on-site challenges
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or similar
- 2–5+ years’ experience in civil or infrastructure construction
- Exposure to structural, marine, or complex civil works is advantageous
- Experience with site set out (GPS/survey equipment) preferred
- Strong understanding of QA processes and documentation
- Good knowledge of NZ construction standards and methodologies
- Effective communicator with strong organisational skills
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and keen to learn
